Memory Care Assistance at Home
Over the course of my nursing career I’ve worked in various environments, dementia care units and behavioral centers were my top two . I was always intrigued by my dementia patients they all were stuck in different places mentally. Almost like watching 50 first dates in real time, with multiple people. I quickly learned my patients and what comforted them. Usually just seeing a familiar face or holding a familiar object, getting their favorite snack and listening to them talk about the various things they do remember helped ease them. I got to experience their feelings and emotions with them and often times those first few nights or weeks even months in the facility were rough for them. These individuals often died much quicker and had harder times ever adjusting to the facility setting. This is what got me to thinking, maybe these individuals would have a higher quality of life and longer life if more them could stay home in the environments in which they are most comfortable. Although there is no cure for dementia I find that individuals whose family is more involved thrive more and maybe even slow down the progression of the disease. With the program that I have here at Lavish Home Care we will ensure we assist in areas that family cannot. We will be the active family keeping them using the functions they still retain, doing daily mind & physical exercises, create a meal plan that promotes brain function, and more. Our goal is to keep your loved one at home receiving one on one care and assistance catered to them. Our staff also goes through mandatory training aimed specifically at dementia and memory care for the senior community. If you would like to learn more about our program and what we can offer to you please contact us for a FREE phone consultation.
